Frequently asked questions
LED Technology
Q: What is red light therapy?
Red light at 633nm is absorbed by your skin cells, where it helps support natural collagen activity and cellular energy. With consistent use, that shows up as firmer-looking skin, a more even-looking tone, and softer-looking fine lines.
Q: What is near-infrared light therapy?
Near-infrared light at 808nm is invisible to the eye and reaches deeper than any other cosmetic wavelength. It works beneath the surface to support your skin's own recovery and circulation — the groundwork the red light builds on. Run together, the two make up our DualWave foundation.
Q: Does LED light therapy actually work?
Red and near-infrared are among the most-studied wavelengths in skin science, which is exactly why we lead with them instead of a rainbow of colors. That said, light therapy is cumulative, not magic — it rewards consistency over a few weeks, the way any real treatment does.
Q: Is it suitable for all skin types?
LED light therapy is gentle and non-invasive, which makes it suitable for most skin types. If you're light-sensitive, take photosensitizing medication, or have a condition such as lupus, check with your doctor before starting.
Q: Who should not use it?
Please talk to your doctor first if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, currently on isotretinoin (Accutane) or a strong prescription retinoid, have a history of seizures triggered by light, or have active skin cancer or any undiagnosed lesion in the treatment area.
Q: Is it safe for my eyes?
Yes — the mask includes built-in cushioned eye shields. Always keep them in place and your eyes closed during treatment, and never stare directly into the LEDs.
Using Your Sloom Mask
Q: How long until I see a difference?
Light therapy is cumulative. Most people use it 3–5 times a week and start noticing changes calmer-looking redness first, then firmer, smoother-looking skin over a few weeks. Consistency is the whole game.
Q: How long is each session?
You can set 10 to 30 minutes per session with three intensity levels. Longer or more intense isn't better steady, regular use is what gives you results, so there's no need to push past the recommended time.
Q: Can I use multiple colors in one session?
Red + near-infrared is your everyday foundation. The other modes are there to adapt to specific weeks blue for blemish-prone days, brightening and soothing modes as needed. We'd suggest sticking to one focus per session rather than cycling through everything at once.
Q: How often should I use it?
Most routines run 3–5 times a week. It's gentle enough for regular use, but there's no benefit to exceeding the recommended session time.
Q: The mask feels slightly warm is that normal?
A little gentle warmth is normal and harmless. If it ever feels uncomfortably warm, switch it off and let it cool between sessions.
Q: Can I use it with my serums?
Use it on clean, bare skin first so the light reaches you directly, then apply your serums and moisturizer afterward to freshly-primed skin.
Care & Charging
Q: How do I clean the mask?
For regular cleaning, gently wipe the silicone with a soft, dry or barely-damp cloth before and after each use. For a deeper clean every couple of weeks, lightly dampen a cloth with 70% isopropyl alcohol and wipe the surface — never spray alcohol directly onto the device, and don't wipe the LED beads with anything wet.
Q: How do I charge it, and how long does it take?
Connect the included USB cable to a standard 5V adapter (fast chargers aren't recommended). A full charge takes a few hours, and one charge supports several sessions. The device can't be used while it's charging.
Warranty & Support
Q: Does Sloom come with a warranty?
Yes, the device comes with a two-year warranty against manufacturer defects as well as a 60-day love it or return it guarantee
Q: What makes Sloom different from a cheap LED mask online?
Defined wavelengths you can actually verify (633nm + 808nm), near-infrared that most cheap masks skip, full face and neck coverage where most stop at the jaw, and a real brand with support behind it instead of a drop-shipped box with no one to email.
